Meadow Wood HOA 2nd Quarter Newsletter JULY 1, 2026
The Board of Directors for the Meadow Wood Homeowners’ Association is pleased to begin a quarterly newsletter. There are many issues/projects that we are addressing, and we want to keep you informed but not overwhelmed with trivia. Each quarter in the newsletter, we will address one or two subjects that affect you as a Meadow Wood neighbor. We welcome your input on these matters. Chat with us when you see us in the neighborhood or send us an email at meadowwoodhoapresident@gmail.com.
The HOA owns two parcels of property. These are called common areas. One is next to the water pump house on Haviland Dr. It is a very small parcel with some grass and trees. The other property is the large lot on Haviland Dr and Weeping Willow/Mayfield. These properties are part of the City storm water drainage system and State Wetlands. The HOA has an annual budget of approximately $14,000. The expense of the landscaping and water for these properties is approximately $10,000. The first question is should or could we manage these properties to provide some benefit to the homeowners. We are discussing two possibilities. The first idea is creating a dog park for HOA members at the Weeping Willow property. The second idea is planting fruit and nut trees on the properties. This project would benefit the environment (we are Tree City) and provide some harvest opportunities for those so inclined. The second question is how we can reduce the annual maintenance expense of these properties. Should they look like someone’s yard or more like a vacant lot that is managed to reduce a fire hazard?
To be up front, the records of the HOA are in a state of disarray. We are trying to correct this by keeping what is required by law, keeping what might be needed and discarding the rest. We are trying to create a system where we can easily access those records that we do keep. We do hope that these updates are informative and make you feel a bit more connected and getting some return on your dues. Until the next update on Oct 1, 2026, have a great summer.
